Her Excellency Dr. Sharman Stone, Australia's Ambassador for Women and Girls

Her Excellency Australia’s Ambassador for Women and Girls, Dr. Sharman Stone and delegates from the Australian Embassy in Nepal including His Excellency Mr. Glenn White visited Marie Stopes Nepal on 4th April, 2017. Ms. Nilima Raut- Youth & Newlywed Project Manager shared a presentation on ANCP funded projects: Youth & Outreach to her excellency and team from Australian Embassy.

There were discussions around the impact youth project “Rockets & Space” has on urban and rural youth population, child marriage and our initiatives to reach young married couples with family planning and safe abortion services. Dr. Stone said, "Women and girls are often the most vulnerable during and following any natural disaster".

During her stay in Nepal, she held discussions on issues including women’s leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women and girls, reproductive rights and women in media.

She held meetings with representatives from National Forum for Parliamentarians on Population and Development, Marie Stopes Nepal, Family Planning Association of Nepal and Sancharika Samuha Nepal. 

Ambassador Stone on Monday launched the Nepal Chapter of Australia Awards Women in Leadership Network, which aims to enable Australian alumni to build a network and create links among women leaders in Nepal, who have had the support to study in Australia.
